Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate, which is probing the Saradha money laundering case, will issue a fresh notice to actor and Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Mithun Chakraborty as he failed to appear before the agency in person on Thursday.
An ED official said that a lawyer representing the actor on Thursday came to the agency office at the CGO complex in Kolkata and submitted some documents. The ED had issued summons to the actor on March 19 this year.
The official said the actor had sought one week's time for his appearance as he is unwell and is in Mumbai now.
"Since we have served summons on him, the actor will have to come to the office and face interrogation by ED officials," the official added.
The central probe agency had in June last year questioned the actor in Mumbai after it detected that about Rs two crore had gone into his account from Saradha business portals.
