Arasavalli Sun Temple
This temple, called Sri Sri Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple, is dedicated to the Sun God, Surya and is located in the town of Arasavalli. It is one of the few sun temples in India with rich historical significance. What makes this temple unique is that the rays of the Sun touch the feet of the idol of the deity twice a year even when the entrance gates are closed. The temple is believed to have been constructed in the 7th century by Kalinga rulers and has seen enhancements from other dynasties like the Cholas, Gajapatis and others. Devotees believe that worshipping here can cure any skin disease and they will be blessed with good health and prosperity.
Srikurmam Temple
The Kurmanatha Swamy temple, also called Kurmanatha temple, Srikurma or Srikurmam temple, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Kurma – the second and tortoise avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is considered to be a lesser-known yet important pilgrimage site for Hindus. It is one of the only temples in the world that worships Lord Vishnu in this avatar. The temple showcases an intricate Dravidian and Kalinga style of architecture with intricate carvings and sculptures of deities and mythological senses. The temple has a sacred pond called Kurma Theertham, which is believed to have some healing properties.
Srimukhalingam Temple
This temple is located in the village of Srimukhalingam, Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. This temple is a revered site for Lord Shiva devotees. Mukhalingam is home to a group of three Lord Shiva temples – Madhukeswara, Someswara, and Bhimeswara. The sanctum of the temple has a unique Shiva linga, which is believed to have not been carved from stone, but instead formed on the roots of a tree. Locals believe that the roots transformed into the stone-like Shiva Linga. The tree is known to be Madhuka, hence, it is also called Madhukeshwara Swamy Temple.
Mandasa Vasudeva Temple
This temple is located in the Mandasa town of Srikakulam. It is dedicated to Lord Vasudeva, an incarnation of Lord Krishna. It houses the idols of deities Lord Krishna, Lord Balarama and Goddess Subhadra. The architecture of the temple is incredibly exquisite with its architectural designs.
Sri Endala Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple
This is an ancient temple dedicated to Sri Endala Mallikarjuna Swamy and is located in Ravivalasa. This is yet another temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, where the Lingam is believed to be self-manifested. It measures about 20 metres in height and 3 metres in width. As per legends, the Pandavas had visited this temple during their exile and met Maharishi Markandeya.
