City-based Indian Child Welfare Forum sent a telegram to the High Court chief justice seeking a direction to the authorities concerned to protect innocent tribal boys and girls from exploitation by activists of revolutionary organisations who are forcing them to join the left-wing extremist parties.

The court treated the telegram as a public interest litigation (PIL) petition and a division bench comprising acting chief justice PC Ghose and justice Vilas V Afzulpurkar is expected to hear the matter on Monday.

The forum requested the court to call for remarks from the authorities relating to exploitation of innocent tribal children by revolutionary organisations and sought immediate action to protect the rights of innocent, illiterate and hapless tribal minor children.
