Farmers' Protest Makes Vehicles Crawl on DND Flyover, NH-48; A Look At Alternative Routes For Commuters

Traffic movement was interrupted in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida after vehicles lined up as security and checking were beefed up around borders with Delhi on Tuesday because of the farmers’ grand march to the national capital.

Noida police issued information on route diversions as highways connecting Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad via Ghazipur and Chilla borders witnessed massive traffic jams.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Vidyasagar Mishra and Additional DCP Manish Mishra were on the ground at the Chilla Border where police personnel are deployed in large numbers, PTI reported.

As per the updates by Noida traffic police, traffic jams were reported on the DND flyover, NH-48 and Greater Noida Expressway. Notably, this flyover also connects Noida with Delhi.

Authorities have banned goods-carrying vehicles from entering Delhi via the Greater Noida Expressway. Ghaziabad, Kaushambi and Anand Vihar border also witnessed traffic jams.

Noida Traffic: Alternative Routes

  • Commuters going to Delhi via Chilla Border can take the 14A flyover to reach Golchakkar Chowk Sector 15.
  • Vehicles can then proceed to Sandip Paper Mill Chowk, Jhundpura Chowk and then travel further to their destination.
  • Those going to Delhi via the DND Border are advised to take the Filmcity flyover to reach sector 18.
  • Vehicles going to Delhi via Yamuna expressway are advised to go towards Khurja from Jewar toll and from there proceed further through Jahangirpur.
  • Commuters travelling to Delhi via Kalindi Border are advised to take Mahamaya flyover to reach sector 37 and proceed further.
  • Vehicles travelling to Delhi via the Peripheral expressway to Sirsa, Parichowk can instead take the route towards Dadri, Dasna to reach their destination.
  • Emergency vehicles will be allowed to go towards secure destinations amid the traffic diversions.

Noida Police Issues Helpline Number

The Noida traffic police has also issued a helpline number for the commuters in view of the grand farmers’ protest. “In case of traffic inconvenience, you can contact the traffic helpline number 9971009001. Please use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience,” the police said.

Farmers’ Protest

Protesting farmers are demanding a law on minimum support price are marching toward Delhi after a meeting with two Union ministers over their demands remained inconclusive.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha said farmers will head to Delhi to press the Centre to accept their demands.

The historic Red Fort complex has been temporarily closed for visitors due to security reasons, a senior ASI official said Tuesday.
