Federer gets one up on Nadal in doubles clash

Indian Wells: The Roger Federer- Rafael Nadal rivalry moved on to the doubles court at Indian Wells and it was the Swiss maestro who came on top as he along with countryman Stanislas Wawrinka beat Nadal and his partner Marc Lopez 7-5, 6-3 to enter the finals.

It was Federer’s first win over Nadal in doubles action after losses in their previous two meetings.

Federer and Wawrinka have had reasonable success in the doubles arena in recent times and the Olympic gold in 2008 stands out as their most significant achievement thus far.

The Swiss ace in fact has a chance to win both the singles and doubles titles as he faces Novak Djokovic in the last four stage ahead of the doubles final against Alexandr Dolgopolov and Xavier Malisse.
