New Delhi: The Singapore Grand Prix this weekend will be a great chance for both Ferrari and McLaren to turn a dull season around. Both teams have had a forgettable run so far but haven't lost hope for a turnaround.
Lewis Hamilton is hoping his words, 'anyone's race, its anyone's race. Force India have got a new package coming, I'm sure the Brawn team will be great but I have no doubt that it will be a Mercedes car at the front', will come true this weekend.
He is already in Singapore ahead of the Grand Prix, but things haven't gone as per plan in his title defence. Hamilton knows the best he can do now is try and win the remaining races.
The sport itself has been tainted due to fixing claims, but the McLaren driver - who finished on the podium in Singapore last year - is confident it will bounce back from this latest set back.
"Well, I think we've got a lot of great people in this sport and they'll work as hard as they can to help us correct things, make the right steps forward. I do believe maybe we are at a low point in the season, in Formula One but we will - collectively with a good effort from everyone I think - be able to rebuild. And as long the racing is great, we have great drivers, great teams then it will continue to grow. Then we can't forget that obviously with the media we need you as much as you need us. The same for all the fans, we can't do without all the fans so as long as they stay we are good," he said.
And one team that can relate best with Hamilton's situation is Ferrari.
Despite knowing they have no chance of winning this year's Championship, the team is working overtime to make an impact in the F60 car.
"The characteristics of the circuit I guess are reasonably close to Valencia and we managed a podium in Valencia but it was difficult to fight for the lead. I imagine similar to the last few races, we will be there and we will be pushing very hard to get the car onto the podium but, probably, we will need a bit of luck to win." Ferrari F1 Team Manager, Chris Dyer said.
With Ferrari on 62 points and McLaren on 47, there isn't much separating the two in the points table and clearly, the main aim for Ferrari at Singapore will be to maintain their third place at the expense of the fast improving McLaren.
