CHENNAI : The Madras High Court has directed the State government to file an action taken report (ATR) on the representations from the parents of five children seeking free education for their wards under the Right to Education Act.Vacation judge V Dhanapalan has posted the matter for further hearing on May 23.In his writ petition, one of the petitioners Abimanyu of Puzhuthivakkam submitted that he belonged to the economically weaker section of society. He wanted his three-year-old daughter A Mathivathani to be admitted to LKG in DAV School in Adambakkam and study up to Class 8 under the provisions of the Act. He approached the school for admission several times but was not given the application form. Enquiries revealed that admission process at the school had been completed. Therefore, he made a representation to the school, with copies marked to the authorities on March 13 last with a request to provide a seat for his daughter. Till date, no action had been taken. Hence, the present petition.
