The three-day meet will also focus on the importance of counseling the patients diagnosed with breast cancer.Breast cancer not only affects the body, but also the mind and soul. The doctor concerned should be skilled in treating as well as guiding the patient and this aspect is sadly missing in our country,” emphasized Dr. Raghuram. The Indian Council for Medical Research’s statistics show that at least one lakh cases of breast cancer are diagnosed every year in India. More than 70 per cent of these cases are detected in advanced stages. “This disturbing trend needs to be changed. The crux of the seminar would be what you can learn on a weekend, and apply on a Monday. The lectures will be precise and stirring,” assured Dr. Raghuram.Among the specialists attending the Congress will be Dr Venkat Ramakrishna, who has been listed among the top 10 breast cancer surgeons in the world.
