NAGERCOIL: Two fishermen from Kanyakumari district claimed that their fishing boat was fired upon in the deep seas on Saturday. A few days ago two fishermen were killed in Kerala waters by the crew of an Italian ship. Unconfirmed sources alleged that Kaarthoos and Yesudhason from Vallavillai coastal hamlet near Ko-llemcode, along with their crew, went for fishing in two fibre boats. On Saturday, while they were fishing at 17 nautical miles, an unidentified passing ship fired at them. Luckily, they escaped. Officials from the district fisheries department and the Marine Police could not confirm the incident and said they had not received any complaint or information about such an incident.
