Fishermen chased away by Lankan navy again

RAMANATHAPURAM: For the third day in a row, fishermen from Rameswaram were reportedly chased away by the Sri Lankan Navy personnel mid sea on Thursday. Sources said fishermen in more than 600 mechanised boats had ventured out into the sea and were engaged in fishing activities near Katchativu, when some boats almost entered the Lankan waters with the hope of a good catch. On seeing this, a Lankan naval vessel that had been anchored near the International Maritime Boundary Line to prevent the entry of Indian boats chased the Rameswaram boats away.
