Five-year-old boy injured in crude bomb blast in Puducherry

Police said the boy was playing with a cricket ball alongwith a few other children. The ball fell into a pigeons' cagein the terrace and the boy, who went to pick it up, picked upa bomb mistaking it to be the ball, police said. On throwing it,the bomb exploded, injuring the boy, policesaid, adding, the boy has been hospitalised. A three-year-old girl sustained minor injuries and wastreated at the out-patient wing. Another unexploded bomb was found in the cage and it hasbeen seized, police said. The incident occurred a day after some unidentifiedpersons threw crude bombs at the locked house of a Frenchnational. A week ago an accused, who was being taken back to prisonunder police custody from Puducherry to Karaikal, was killedwhen a gang hurled bombs at the police van.
