BANGALORE: With an aim to optimise the performance and efficiency of the electricity distribution network in Uttar Pradesh, the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) has resorted to implement the significant ‘Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition’ (SCDA) system in UP.Prathap Kumar, director, KPTCL, recently announced this in the city.Addressing the gathering after inaugurating Bhart Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya’s birthday celebrations, organised by the Karnataka Electricity Board’s Engineers Association, he suggested the engineers to follow the principles of Sir MV.SCADA system would increase the performance and efficiency of the electricity distribution network, in the technical and the commercial sense.It involved computer networking the power distribution network to monitor and control it.The KPTCL has successfully implemented this network project in Karnataka.Several states, requesting assisting them to implement the project in their states, have submitted proposals to the KPTCL, Kumar said.The UP government has agreed to implement the project with the association of KPTCL and shortly the KPTCL will sign an MOU with the UP Government.The Punjub government has also expressed its interest to implement the project with KPTCL’s association, he said.Venkatasiva Reddy, recently elected president of KEB Engineers Association, remembered Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.Reddy recollected the efforts and visions of Sir MV and suggested the engineers to follow the principles of the great engineer-statesman Sir MV.KAVIKA’s Managing Director S Sumanth, KEB Engineers Association’s former director K C Nayakpadi and others attended the programme.
