New Delhi: The Food Security Bill 2013 is likely to be tabled for discussion in Parliament on Monday. The opposition parties including Left, BJP have made it clear that they will not allow the Bill it is current form and are likely to move resolutions against the food security ordinance.
Food Minister KV Thomas will answer queries from MPs regarding the bill following which the bill is then likely to be passed. Thomas had introduced the Bill in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
The Bill was opposed by AIADMK MP M Thambidurai who said his party is "opposing the bill at the introduction stage as there are many issues in the present format". The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said it will not vote against the Bill but wants a day-long discussion over it before it is passed.
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar had also said that he was not opposed to the bill but was open to changes in it.
