BANGALORE: Residents of Pulikeshinagar gathered near Ambedkar Statue, Tannery Road Junction, to demand regular drinking water supply for the area. On Wednesday morning, local leaders from Janata Dal (S) party organised a protest meeting and gave away free plastic pots to people, mostly women. The party also filled a public tank in the area with privately purchased water to help tide over the problem of irregular water supply.Zameer Ahmed Khan from the JD (S) addressed the gathering and said, “If the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) give it in writing that the issues plaguing water supply in the area cannot be fixed, then I will fix the problem. Else, I will resign from my post.”Residents there told the reporter that water supply has been irregular in the area and people living in the narrow streets have to fetch water from a public tank that runs dry very often. However, BWSSB officials were unavailable for  comment. Water shortage is nothing new in Banagalore. However, with the Cauvery project coming in March 2012, which was executed by BWSSB, the issues could be sorted  out very soon.
