In a warm and heartfelt speech at the pre-wedding festivities of her son Anant Ambani, Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani welcomed his fiancée Radhika Merchant to the family, calling her an “Ambani beti".
Anant, the youngest son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, will wed Radhika Merchant, daughter of Viren Merchant, CEO of Encore Healthcare, later this year.
The family is hosting a lavish three-day pre-wedding gala for the couple in Gujarat’s Jamnagar with a guest list that boasts of global and Indian corporate czars, world leaders, royalty, celebrities and sports stars.
“When I first met Radhika, I knew that Anant has found his soulmate, his perfect companion. And I found another daughter who shares my love for dance and, of course, my love for my son. Radhika, we welcome you with open arms as an Ambani beti. You are not just Anant’s partner, but a cherished daughter, sister, maasi, kaaki, and the light of all our lives," Nita Ambani said.
“And Anant, you are Godsend to all of us. My heart bursts with love and pride for you. You are the youngest, but with the biggest heart. You are the kindest, but with the strongest resolve," she added, lauding his work in setting up the Vantara animal rescue and rehabilitation centre.
“Not just the animals, his knowledge of our sacred Hindu scriptures, the Vedas, continues to inspire me. He just doesn’t read them, he applies them and lives by them… His gentle demeanor hides his strong iron will. His grand passions are backed by his endless patience and hard work."
Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg with philanthropist-wife Priscilla Chan, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, former US president Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka, corporate leaders Gautam Adani, Nandan Nilekani, and Adar Poonawala, cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev are part of the pre-wedding festivities. Other well-known film personalities who have been invited for the event are Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, and Madhuri Dixit.
In her first performance in India, pop star Rihanna set the stage on fire on Friday night on Day 1 of the celebrations.
‘A Walk on the Wildside’ with ‘jungle fever’ as the suggested dress code and ‘Mela Rouge’, a potpourri of desi activities in the guests’ favourite south Asian attires, will be the major themes on Saturday. Among performances, the highlights on Day 2 of the three-day event will be world-renowned illusionist David Blaine mesmerising the guests. Blaine’s feats will be followed by Sangeet performances by family and friends, including Bollywood stars, of the bride and groom-to-be. A performance by actor-singer Diljeet Dosanjh is also on the cards.
