Four held for snatching bag with valuables

CHENNAI: Four persons, including a minor, were arrested at Parry’s Corner for snatching a bag containing gold and silver articles and cash on Saturday. Police said they caught a 16-year-old boy, who had snatched a bag containing one kg of silver, Rs 1.4 lakh in cash and five sovereigns of gold from another 16-year-old boy Ganesh (name changed). Ganesh was walking near Waltax Road when his bag was snatched.  During enquiry by police, Ganesh said that his uncle had a jewellery store at Thiruninravur and had given him the bag with gold and silver jewellery along with cash to exchange them for a new jewellery at Sowcarpet.During interrogations, the culprit said that he was instructed by a trio, which included Srinivasan, an employee working at jewellery store owned by Ganesh’s uncle, to snatch the bag. Based on his information, Srinivasan, his friends Mukesh and Mukesh Kumar were also arrested.
