As per reports, the agricultural land in the region is located within a dense forest. So, whatever is cultivated, has to be transferred to the market with a horse cart or as a headload by the farmers themselves.
The products made from the resources of the region are extremely popular among the locals, as they are believed to be herbal. So, the products made here are bought a lot by the customers. One of the most famous veggies grown here is the jackfruit. According to Local18, the Sirumalai jackfruit is known to have a delectable taste with its sweet pulp. Going by the information given, the price of this jackfruit is based on its size and quality.
In a conversation with Local18, one of the jackfruit traders at Sirumalai Road named Rajmohan, delved into the vegetable’s price range and exportation. He stated, “Sirumalai jackfruit is exported to Tamil Nadu due to the abundance of herbs in the Sirumalai hills.”
According to him, “The fruit is sold for Rs 200 to Rs 800 depending on the quality of the peels and the weight of the fruit.” Rajmohan revealed further that the high demand for Sirumalai jackfruits has become a source of joy for the sellers and farmers, as it is now being sold for a higher cost, reported Local18.
The video shared by Local18 features the scenic location of Sirumalai with large jackfruit trees, laden with the vegetable. It also shows the traders using a horse to transfer jackfruits, while another takes the weight on his head.
