CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Petroleum Dealers Association on Thursday announced that it would resort to a closure of fuel outlets on April 23 to press their demands.As per the decision taken by Federation of All India Petroleum Traders (FAIPT), fuel sites would remain closed from April 22 midnight to April 23 midnight, the association said.Around 3,100 dealers would take part in the protest, the association said, adding that if their demands were not met, they would resort to an indefinite closure from April 29 midnight. The petrol dealers’ demands included the implementation of recommendations of the Apurva Chandra Committee, comprising directors of the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), constituted by the Petroleum Ministry.The committee had recommended a revision of commission for the traders based on volume, apart from a revision every six months. They demanded a discussion on Marketing Discipline Guidelines (MDG) with the associations.The association also expressed their opposition to the mushrooming of new Petroleum Retail Outlets (ROs) in the country and noted that applications for over 4,500 ROs had been called for by all the OMCs.
