New Delhi: It’s getting bigger, better and more technology savvy. Yes Bollywood is not just restricted to silver screen now.
Roamware and Hungama Mobile on Monday joined forces with the GSM association (GSMA) to announce the launch of a 'Mobile Bollywood initiative' in Mumbai.
The move aims to create short films specially made for mobile devices, and will introduce the world's largest film industry in mobile devices across the globe.
GSMA, Hungama mobile and Roamware have teamed up with Kaante director Sanjay Gupta to premiere three short movies for the mobile medium.
The films will be premiered at the GSMA's GSM world Congress to be held in Barcelona from February 12 to 15.
“Hungama mobile has been instrumental in promoting Bollywood in the wireless world. It also has world wide exclusive rights to over 70 per cent of Bollywood content,” Managing Director and CEO Hungama Mobile, Neeraj Roy was quoted by news agency UNI as saying.
“Bollywood has a massive presence in the world movie's industry and South Asia represents the fastest growing mobile market in the world”,Sanjay Gupta said.
Diya Mirza, who was also present on the occasion said, “Indian cinema is now dubbed in over 35 languages and accounts for as much as 18 per cent theatrical business in markets such as UK.”
She added, “India is not only the youngest nation in the world but also has the highest mobile user in the world. People might not have the patience to watch a 3 hour film on mobile but would like to see a eight to10 minute film.”
