New Delhi: The day Arab countries welcome spring is also celebrated as Mother's Day in western Asia and Egypt.

To commemorate the Arab Mother's Day, Google has put up a Mother's Day doodle on its home pages in Arab countries including Egypt, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Libya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The doodle that Google has posted for the Arab Mother's Day on March 21 is in fact the same as the one it had put up for Mother's Day in UK on March 18. It is also similar to the March 19 Father's Day doodle in Italy, Honduras and Portugal.

The doodle has the appearance of a child-drawn wax crayon image. The Google logo includes a green-haired mother and a child. There are also lots of heart symbols to signify a mother's love and the sun shines in the background.

As if to further establish that it is a wax crayon drawing, the doodle has two wax crayons in a corner.

The idea of the Arab Mother's Day was conceptualised by Egyptian journalist Mustafa Amin and his twin brother Mustafa Amin. The day was officially celebrated for the first time on March 21, 1956.

Mother's Day is celebrated on different days of the year in different countries of the world, beginning with Norway on the second Sunday of February to December 22 in Indonesia.
