New Delhi: Google has announced to shut down Google Reader, one of the world's most popular RSS readers, as part of its new spring cleaning ritual. The service will not be available after July 1, 2013.
Before Google shuts down its service, it allows users to download a copy of all their Reader data before July 1. Users and developers interested in RSS alternatives can export their data, including their subscriptions, with Google Takeout over the course of the next four months, and users will receive their subscription data in an XML file.
Users can click here to know how to start downloading their Reader data from Takeout. Once downloaded, the subscription data should be easily transferrable to another product, where you can continue to keep up with your online reading.
Besides Google Reader, the company has announced to close down its several other products including Google Voice App for Blackberry, Google Cloud Connect and Google Building Maker.
