KOCHI: Ayurvedic medicine manufacturer Sreedhareeyam bagged the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and ISO 22000 recognition in the ayurveda segment. Sreedhareeyam won the award through the food safety audit conducted by the prominent certification agency ‘Bureau Veritas’.Managing director of Sreedhareeyam Hari N Namboodiri received the certification from KV Thomas, Minister of States for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.“Raw materials used at Sreedhareeyam to make medicines undergo twenty different tests at different stages to ensure best quality. After  production, before releasing  to the market, they are tested again and observed for 15 days. The audit report made under the guidance of experts testifies that the medicines of Sreedhareeyam are prepared traditionally, maintaining all quality norms” Namboodiri said.He said that in next two years, the company is eying markets in 28 countries for their product Smartlean. “We have started efforts to get a recognition of World Health Organisation (WHO) for Smartlean,” he added.Smartlean undergoes stringent tests at the Kasturba Medical College in Manipal and is a chemical-free product. Through the animal study, Smartlean has proved effective in methodically reducing excess fat and lowering the rate of bad cholesterol in the body, he said.
