TIRUCHY: The Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (AGMGH) here has ‘discharged’ a woman before her injuries could be healed which were caused due to knife assault by her husband who demanded more dowry from her family.  As the woman T Sivakami, belonging to Nanguneri, knew no one in the city, she lay on the hospital lobby for a whole night on November 15.She was crying in pain with no one to care for her throughout the night. A few attenders who heard her cries, got the mobile number of her brother and informed him. Her brother Ayyappan, who arrived on Wednesday, took her to the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) which directed the hospital authorities to re-admit her.Sivakami (30) was married to R Krishnakumar, a tailor of Akkaraipatti near Samayapuram in November 2009. It is said, during the marriage Krishnakumar was given a dowry of 10 sovereign gold and cash of Rs 35,000. However, in due course, Krishnakuamr began demanding more dowry and used to quarrel with her frequently. On October 25, Krishnakumar along with his father had assaulted Sivakami with a knife. As she fainted, the duo dumped her on the railway track. People who saw her lying on the rail track, called for a 108 ambulance and took her to the GH. On November 15, Sivakami, was given a discharge summary and was asked by the staff to leave the hospital.Sivakami, who was unable to walk and knew no one in the city, spent the whole night in the  verandah crying out of pain, till her brother arrived from Nanguneri. The District Legal Services Authorities who had directed the AGMGH Medical Superintendent to readmit Sivakami, also requested the Siruganur police to take up the case for investigations. When contacted, the Resident Medical Officer Sivakumar said Sivakami was re-admitted as per the direction of District Legal Services Authority and has been undergoing treatment.“We are conducting enquiries”, he added.
