HC notice on mining lease to ministers son

HYDERABAD: The PIL bench of the High court on Thursday ordered issuance of notice in connection with a writ petition challenging the grant of mining lease to Virgins Rock, a company owned by the son of roads and buildings minister Dharmana Prasada Rao.The petitioner, the sarpanch of Puliputti village in Srikakulam district, complained that the grant of the lease was not only in violation of the prescribed procedure but was also a product of a misrepresentation that the land was a barren government land when actually it was a farm land.When mining officials had visited the place to inspect and survey the land, they faced the wrath of the local tribal people.
