The Chennai Corporation administration on Wednesday received the Council’s approval to start a personalised health card scheme for students of its schools. This scheme had been announced as part of this year’s Corporation budget, and is expected to be rolled out soon.
Under this scheme, students of Chennai Schools across the city would receive personalised health cards. They would also receive medical check-ups pertaining to the heart, eyes and other indispensable organs. The results of these tests will be recorded in the health card. Any irregularities found during the check-up will be reported to the parents.
The scheme also provides for further treatment which would be arranged accordingly. “The health cards have already been designed. We will devise a plan of check-ups and conduct them accordingly,” said a senior Corporation official.
The health card was among the 30 schemes announced on the education front in the civic body’s budget for 2012-13.
Other proposals include creation of smart classrooms and installation of CCTV cameras.
