Hearing on pleas challenging power granted to HC

CHENNAI: A division bench comprising Justice K Suguna and Justice S Rajeswaran, constituted exclusively to hear the batch of writ petitions challenging the delegation of power to the Madras High Court to make appointment to the 185 posts of civil judges directly, commenced work on Thursday.  The bench ordered notice to the State Home Secretary (Courts), TNPSC and the High Court Registrar-General, returnable by February 13.Advocate G Mohanakrishnan, counsel for petitioner  T Sadatsaram, who sought to quash a notification inviting applications for civil judges posts, contended that it was issued without reference to the TNPSC.
