New Delhi: HTC has unveiled a cheaper version of its flagship smartphone. Named the One (E8), the new smartphone has plastic casings, unlike the flagship One (M8) that comes with metal housing.
HTC seems to be taking a leaf out of Apple's strategy which last year introduced a cheaper version of its flagship smartphone to revive sales in emerging markets. While Apple's plastic-backed iPhone 5c has not been selling as well as Apple had expected, it is to be seen how well HTC's One (E8) fares in the market.
The HTC One (E8) has a 5 megapixel front-facing and 13 megapixel rear camera. The phone features a 5-inch full HD display. Encased in a polycarbonate unibody, the HTC One (E8) comes in a wide range of bold colours.
It is equipped with dual front-facing speakers. This dual SIM phone comes with a 2,600 mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard memory. The phone supports a microSD card. The HTC One (E8) will be available from early June in select markets.
The HTC Dot View case, which was first introduced with the One (M8), will also be available for the One (E8).
