M S Gill was shifted to Statistics and Programme Implementation in Wednesday's reshuffling of portfolios.

New Delhi: A day after being shifted to another ministry in the cabinet reshuffle, M S Gill on Thursday said he has forgotten his days spent in the Shastri Bhawan as the sports minister.

Gill, who had come under attack over the mess in Commonwealth Games preparations, was shifted from Sports and Youth Affairs to Statistics and Programme Implementation in Wednesday's reshuffling of portfolios by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Gill, 74, who was also blamed for the corruption-hit Games, was shunted to the low-profile ministry as the Prime Minister went for a younger 47-year-old Ajay Maken.

Maken, former minister of state for home affairs, was given independent charge of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

"I don't look at any moves to study how and why or what has been done. I am not interested in all that. I have forgotten that time (as a sports minister)," said Gill.

"God has screwed my head in such a way that I can't look back and look forward," the former chief election commissioner said.

Gill, a distinguished bureaucrat and an avid mountaineer, said that he is looking forward to the new call of duty.

"It's a new day for me and I am looking forward to that," he said.
