New Delhi, June 27, 2007: IBM India today announced that leading analyst firm IDC has positioned IBM as the market leader in the India domestic IT services market for 2006*. IBM Global Services continued to retain the number one position in the India domestic IT services market, with a 9.7% revenue share for the year 2006 (January-December 2006). The company's leadership position in the domestic IT services space was augmented by higher than industry average revenue growth in IS outsourcing engagements.

"We are honored by IDC's recognition of our continued leadership in the domestic IT services market.' said Nipun Mehrotra, Director – Global Technology Services, IBM India. 'Increased market share and significant wins, which have attributed to a consistent leadership ranking, are not a matter of chance. Pioneering initiatives and a commitment to helping our clients transform and innovate have helped us provide what they seek the most – Value,' said Nipun Mehrotra.

Global Technology Services works closely with over 400 organizations in India, spanning across varied industries, providing them a diverse spectrum of IT services. IBM India recently announced significant deals it signed with major businesses in the country including IDEA Cellular - a 10 year business transformation pact to integrate, innovate and transform Idea's business processes and IT infrastructure; DLF, a leading real estate developer - to transform and manage its IT Infrastructure ; Financial Information Network and Operations (FINO), an ICICI Bank promoted technology services provider - for the first of its kind Micro Finance project in the country; Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) – a 5-year services agreement to modernize Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) IT infrastructure and Delhi International Airport - to modernize key business processes to meet burgeoning air traffic in India. The Indian markets have been witnessing an increasing number of organizations outsourcing their non-core functions to improve competitiveness in the market. IBM has been effectively leveraging its global know-how across different sectors, combined with innovative technologies to boost its customer's business efficiency and performance.

IBM Global Services India also continues to target the growing SMB market with niche packaged services. "We see enormous potential in the SMB market. At IBM, 'enabling businesses of all sizes' is a critical pillar in our overall business strategy and our packaged service offerings is a key step in addressing this growing market. While controlling costs is still a priority for SMBs, they have also begun to realize the opportunities provided by IT. This is where our domain expertise coupled with technology prowess and track record will make a difference." commented Nipun. The company has in fact expanded its reach to several towns in India viz., Kochi, Coimbatore, Lucknow, Jaipur, Nagpur and Nashik, to name a few. Plans are afoot to extend the company's services to more Tier 1 and Tier 2 towns.

"The total size of the domestic IT services market was US$ 3.7 billion in 2006, and was primarily driven by IT consolidation, big ticket implementation in the enterprise space and greater investments by SMBs", said Mrydul Vats, Asst. Manager - Software and Services Research, IDC India.
