People will soon celebrate the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 7 which marks the birth anniversary of the Lord Ganesh. According to Local 18 Tamil Nadu, the Mappillai Vinayagar Charitable Society at the Rajapalayam Taluk of Virudhunagar District has come up with attractive idols of Lord Ganesh.

The charitable society has designed fascinating life-sized structures of Lord Ganesha in a Maruti car and riding a tricycle. There are also idols of Lord Ganesha and Lord Murugan, also known as Karthik performing Silambam, a traditional Tamil martial art. Lord Murugan is Lord Ganesha’s elder brother. The idols at the Rajapalayam Taluk have become a major source of attraction for the children. Apart from these statues, the Vinayagar Charitable Society has also constructed a massive Maha Ganapati idol.

Many people have flocked to the Rajapalayam Taluk to see the idols of Lord Ganesha and Murugan which are placed near Rajapalayam North Police Station. Ramarajan, a member of the Mappillai Vinayagar Charitable Society, is celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi for the 37th time. According to Ramarajan, this year, they are planning to do some social services alongside the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. These activities include alms donations, free weddings, providing notebooks to school students, and providing equipment to differently-abled people. These idols have been placed at the magnificently decorated pandals.

Quite similar to Tamil Nadu, the preparations for this festival are also being done with great fervour in Karnataka’s Balkunje village. The farmers of Balkunje, a village in Karnataka are aiming to sell four and a half lakh sugarcanes. This village is situated in Mulki Taluk, Dakshina Kannada. The sugarcane produced in the Balkunje village will be sold in Dakshina Kannada. It will also be sold in the Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru areas. More than 35 farmers cultivate sugarcane in the Balkunje village and are now harvesting the sugarcane crops as well. This produce is also sold for the Honey Feast of the Saviour Day.
