BANGALORE: The city is overflowing with people living in huts, houses, bungalows and apartment. Some not so good and healthy have been given shelter by government-run agencies and homes run by NGOs. But a intellectually disabled 22-year-old young man is languishing at KSRTC bus stand in Majestic with no one to care for. Reason: he is more than 18 years old.Two weeks ago, Ramaswamy, coordinator at Bosco in Majestic, found this man. Since then he is staying at KSRTC bus stand. According to Ramaswamy, he can just utter "Amma" (Mother) and "Mane" (House)."He can understand what we say. But cannot speak any words. He is sleeping in the bus stand for the past 15 days," Ramaswamy said adding that he, along with local vendors inside bus station, are feeding him.He said that they tried to accommodate him somewhere else, but in vain."Just because he does not come under 18 years, many agencies are sending him back," Ramaswamy said.He said he even tried contacting officials from Missing Persons Bureau. But officials said they have not received any complaint regarding this.In the meantime, Vasudev Sharma, member, Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, said that child helplines cannot accommodate him as he is above 18 years."One should inform police," he suggested. When contacted Upparpet police officials, they said one can lodge complaint at station."We will produce him at court. Later, the actual procedure begins," a police official said, by suggesting to admit the person at NIMHANS.
