A fresh batch of 707 pilgrims on Sunday left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas amidst tight security.

Jammu: A fresh batch of 707 pilgrims on Sunday left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas amidst tight security.

The batch comprising of 541 men, 113 women, six children and 47 sadhus left in a motorcade of 19 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu at 04:50 AM, a police official said. The convoy has already reached Ramban on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

With Sunday's batch, as many as 42,595 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the shrine.
