JEYPORE: Life at the rain hit areas of Koraput are limping back to normalcy with no rainfall over the last one day. With water gradually receding from the streets, vehicles resumed plying as well. According to reports, the region recorded 30 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours. Water level in Indravati, Saleru, Saveri, Saptadhara, Jahanjabati, Nagabali, Kolab and Tel rivers reportedly reduced, in a relief to Kotpad, Kaimela, Podia, Gunupur, Rayagada, Kosagumunda, Chandahandi and Kotpad blocks.Bus service from Koraput to Malkangiri and Rayagada districts also resumed on Monday. However, Agriculture Department officials have asked the farmers to refrain from spreading fertilisers and pesticides in the fields, in wake of fresh cyclonic conditions in the neighbouring coastal districts. Meanwhile, Upper Kolab Project Committee, the apex body of pani panchayats in the district, have requested the Collector to conduct an early survey of crop damage in Jeypore sub-division.
