New Delhi: One CRPF personnel and a police official were injured in an encounter between security forces and Naxals in the Latehar district of Jharkhand on Thursday noon.
The encounter is still underway.
According to Home Ministry sources, a top leader of the Naxals may be hiding in the area.
The encounter comes just two days after a major Naxal attack on a road construction party in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Sixteen people - 15 security personnel and one civilian, were killed in the gruesome attack by nearly 200 Maoists.
Shinde had vowed revenge for the attack. "Hum iska badla lenge. (We will avenge this)," he told mediapersons after a high-level meeting in Raipur on Wednesday.
Sukma is where Naxals had killed top Congress leaders of the state in an attack in May 2013.
