Awami Itehad Party, headed by MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid, on Saturday announced candidates for three Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir Valley, vowing to act as a bridge between India and Pakistan to solve all outstanding issues.

"Our party has decided to contest parliamentary polls and we have decided to field candidates on three seats of Kashmir," Rashid told reporters in Srinagar. Rashid said he himself will contest from north Kashmir Baramulla-Kupwara constituency and Advocate Mujib-ur-Rehman will be fielded from Anantnag parliamentary constituency of south Kashmir.

Journalist-turned politician Rashid Rahil will be the party's candidate from the prestigious Srinagar constituency of central Kashmir and will take on Union minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and PDP's Tariq Hamid Karra, Rashid said.

Rashid said the party will seek votes for the resolution of Kashmir issue. "We will act as a bridge and pressurise India and Pakistan to solve all outstanding issues including Kashmir," he said.

Rashid called on the people to vote in large numbers for the party, saying "it is your vote which will choose your representatives and not people sitting in Delhi." "People should keep in mind that Delhi does not decide who wins or loses. Whoever you (people) vote for, will win," Rashid said.

What's your reaction?
