Jammu: Pakistan Army violated ceasefire again on Saturday evening as it fired on the three Indian Army posts in Shahpur area in Poonch district.
Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire as many as 16 times in the last 16 days. The heavy firing on Saturday morning killed two civilians in the RS Pura sector and injured a jawan and three other people.
Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said, "Our Army & BSF are effectively responding to each violation.. country has full faith."
In a major escalation, Pakistani troops indulged in heavy "unprovoked" shelling and firing on 22 border outposts and 13 villages along the International Border in Jammu sector.
Pakistan troops also violated ceasefire thrice today by resorting to heavily firing with automatic and small arms along Hamirpur sub-sector in Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir, forcing Indian troops to retaliate strongly.
Pakistan on Saturday said that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan should meet to address the ongoing border tension and firing incidents, local media reported.
Pakistan's Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz expressed concerns over what he called "unprovoked" firing by Border Security Force (BSF). He said it was impacting the bilateral ties and peace in the region.
"DGMOs of both countries should meet immediately and discuss ways and means to stop the current spate of firing along the working boundary and Pakistan is also sending a proposal to India for the meeting," Aziz told the Dawn.
