Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has terminated 12 of its regular employees for their alleged involvement in the ongoing unrest after the killing of suspected terrorist Burhan Wani in the valley.
A government spokesman told News 18 the employees were terminated on charges of posing threat to security, sovereignty and integrity of the state besides flouting the services rules.
The government has written to departmental heads to issue termination letters to these employees without any delay even though the latter can approach court to question the sacking 'without holding mandatory inquiry into the charges levelled again them'.
The criminal investigation department (CID) and central intelligence agencies are reportedly said to have prepared a list of more than hundred employees for 'leading or nudging' protests in Kashmir.
Among the departments, most of these employees are from Education belonging mostly to South Kashmir - the epicentre to current demonstrations.
The intelligence agencies, according to sources, had conducted an extensive exercise and prepared dossiers for terminating the services of the government staffers.
Over 90 persons have been killed and 15000 injured in the 103-day-long turmoil that are showing small signs of waning down.
Following the intelligence reports, the administrative heads of at least eight departments issued orders last night, terminating the services of 12 employees. Those shown the door belong to Education Department, Revenue, Public Health Engineering, Fire and Emergency Services, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Forest departments.
On Tuesday, it was decided by the Mehbooba Mufti government that the dismissal orders would be issued under section 126-B of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir invoking the provisions of posing threat to security, sovereignty and integrity of the State.
