Budgam: At least two people died and two others were injured after security forces allegedly opened fire at a private vehicle in Chattergam, in the Budgam district of Kashmir.
Police and Army sources say the firing occurred only after the vehicle did not stop at the checkpost. The Army has ordered a court of inquiry and exprrssed regret over the loss of life. The injured have been admitted to the Army Base hospital in Srinagar.
The Army had established three Mobile Vehicle Check Posts (MVCP), based on specific intelligence reports about the movement of terrorists in a white Maruti 800 car on November 3 along Nowgam to Pulwama road. According to the sources, around 5 PM a white Maruti 800 car approached the first check point where the personnel tried to stop the car but it did not stop.
At the second check point as well the car did not stop and tried to barge through the third check point, resulting in the firing incident and the tragedy.
