PALAKKAD: Joy Sasthampadikal, 74, Resident Editor of the Palakkad unit of ‘Malayala Manorama’ died in a private hospital here on Wednesday.Joy began his career in 1965 in ‘Telegraph’ published from Thrissur as a sub-editor.  Later , he was associated with the newspaper ‘Thozhilali’ brought out by Father Joseph Vadakkan from Thrissur. He joined ‘Malayala Manorama’ in 1966. He worked as a reporter in Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad and Thrissur. He had also served as the special correspondent  in Thiruvananthapuram.He became the Resident Editor of the Palakkad unit of ‘Malayala Manorama’ when the paper started its unit there in 1992. His wife Mary Joy had predeceased him. He is survived by children Smitha and Sumesh.
