Bangalore: The fight between two former Chief Ministers BS Yeddyurappa and D V Sadanada Gowda hit a new low on Friday. At a programme organised by State Vokkaliga Federation to give away scholarships to bright SSLC students, Gowda quoting business tycoon Dhirubai Ambani’s well known statement said, “One need not be worried about street dogs. If they bark, don’t pelt them with stones. Instead, throw a biscuit and keep going ahead.”
Though he did not take any names, it was quite obvious he was referring to his detractor Yeddyurappa. He further said keeping biscuits to throw at dogs has become a necessity these days. Earlier, Gowda played a Vokkaliga card and asked the community to act as a remote control. “Vokkaligas should become a remote control to bring in changes in the society. People should decide what should happen in future. Society needs to develop the attitude of watching what the people at top are doing” said Gowda.
“The remote has one more button, where the whole system can be turned off. Such a show of strength in needed. Plan well on how to take the community forward in the upcoming days, so that others identify our good works, recognise and appreciate it.”
Expecting a backlash from his opponents for making such a statement, Gowda said, “I know my statement is likely to stir the hornet’s nest, but I am not bothered about it. I am aware that every word of mine will be analyzed and even I wish that.” He also called upon the community people to cut across the party lines, set aside minor differences and work for the betterment of Vokkaligas.
