Kashmir incomplete without pandits: Sinha
This is common perception among majority community in the valley who are yearning for return of pandits, said Sinha.

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha on Saturday said one of the indicators of peace in Kashmir would be safe return of the members of the Kashmiri pandit community to their homes and hearths, claiming that without the pandits the valley was incomplete.

At a seminar on Kashmir Shaivism in Jammu, Sinha said this is the common perception among majority community in the valley who are yearning for return of their Kashmiri pandit brethren.

Though it may not be possible as of now in view of the prevailing situation but that should not mean that efforts in this regard should not be made, as quoted by PTI, Sinha said.

As a first step, Sinha said groups of Kashmiri pandits could be taken for Waadi ki sair as children and elders from the valley are going on wattan ki sair to promote harmony and greater understanding between both the communities. By such visits, broken links can be revived, he said.

Lauding the contribution of Kashmiri pandits in nation building and various fields, the Governor said the members of community have been great achievers in every field of life.

The army will certainly return to the barracks once peace returns to the valley, he said.

To the demand for setting up of a Swami Lakshmanjoo chair in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Sinha said he would like to have a Shardha Peeth University in Srinagar with a chair dedicated to the Swami, whose contribution in shaivism in Kashmir has been immense.

In his keynote address, former Union Secretary M K Kaw said that India's renaissance can be directly traced to Kashmiri shaivism.
