Kolkata: Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala is debuting in Bengali cinema with Rituparno Ghosh?s Khela.

Within a couple of weeks of the release of his film Antarmahal, Rituparno Ghosh is back in action. In a small apartment in south Kolkata, Ghosh began shooting with Manisha and Bengali superstar Prasenjit Chatterjee for the film.

Manisha plays a Bengali housewife in this film who deals with marital discord. The film portrays the complex bonding between her husband and child.

Unlike his last couple of films, which were inspired by well-known short stories, Khela is Ghosh's story.

And typical of Rituparno, he?s going to wrap up production in a month. With a budget of barely a crore, Khela is going to be shot in Kolkata and north Bengal and will be released in next year summer.

Rituparno has successfully cast Bollywood actors like Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Soha Ali Khan in Bengali films. In most cases their voices have been dubbed, and it?s going to be the same for Manisha as well.

But can Rituparno recreate the magic with the nearly-written-off Manisha as well? And most importantly, will Khela give Manisha a new lease of life in Bollywood?

What's your reaction?
