KOTTAYAM: A central team will reach here on Saturday in connection with setting up a science city.To be established by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), it will mark the growth of Kottayam as a major destination of learning and research, said Jose K Mani MP on Friday.Once the construction of the `100 crore science city is done, Kottayam will join the league of other major cities like Kolkata, Jalandhar and Ahmedabad with similar centres.Science, technology, research and entertainment sectors will grow immensely, Jose said.The visiting team includes NCSM Director (Headquarters) K G Kumar, Secretary P K Nanadakumar, State Science and Technology Museum Director Arun Gerald Prakash.With the aim to make Kottayam a major destination for students and faculty from South India, at least 20 lakh people are expected to visit the science city in a year.The aim is to take up the work in two phases, Jose said.
