A man was stopped by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials from boarding the metro in Bengaluru over his unbuttoned shirt and dirty clothes. A video of the incident that took place at the Doddakallasandra Metro Station on Tuesday, surfaced on the internet.
According to an NDTV report, the BMRCL staff allegedly asked the man to button up his shirt and come to the Metro station wearing clean clothes, otherwise he would not be allowed to enter.
One of the passengers recorded the incident and shared it on social media.

‘Passenger was in inebriated state’: BMRCL
After the video went viral on social media, the BMRCL clarified that the passenger in question was in an “inebriated state, and he was made to stand to ensure he would not trouble women and children while travelling on the Metro”. The BMRCL stressed that its officials treat all passengers equally irrespective of economic status or gender.
“No differentiation will be made on the basis of whether the passengers are rich or poor, men or women. The officials suspected that the passenger was in an inebriated state, and he was made to stand to ensure he would not trouble women and children while travelling on the Metro. After counselling, he was allowed to travel,” an official said.
In February this year, Bengaluru Metro had sacked a security supervisor for allegedly barring a farmer from using its train services for being “inappropriately dressed.”
In a video posted by a fellow commuter on February 24, 2024, the security supervisor was seen barring the farmer from using the metro services for not being “appropriately dressed.”
