VIJAYAWADA: “I am ready to leave the country and keep away from politics for sometime if my detractors who termed me as a major hurdle to creation of Telangana state, achieve it through a peaceful agitation,” says local MP Lagadapati Rajagopal.Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, he said Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar who quit the post of Congress MPs Forum convener, was feeling like making a major sacrifice. But it was nothing but a messenger post. It was not proper on the part of Prabhakar to make comments against him in the capacity of Congress MPs Forum convener even after he quit the post, Rajagopal said. The MP said he would not keep quiet if Telangana leaders continue to make adverse comments against him describing him as a capitalist.Rajagopal said though he was a capitalist, he entered politics to serve people. He has also been striving to further strengthen the Congress in the state, Rajagopal said, recalling his participation in a padayatra undertaken by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy which brought the party back to power in the state. The MP accused Prabhakar of misusing his power to get his brother appointed as assistant solicitor general of High Court.Commenting on Vanta- Varpu of TJAC, the MP said it was a peaceful programme. The MP made it clear that Andhra Pradesh would achieve rapid economic growth when only it remained united. The report of Srikrishna Committee also favoured a united Andhra Pradesh. The Congress-led UPA government would convene an all-party meeting soon to find a permanent solution to the Telangana issue, he added.
