Lalu sympathises with prof's "immoral act"
A professor at Patna University, suspended for having an affair with his student, found a sympathiser in Lalu.

Hajipur (Bihar): A professor of Hindi at Patna University, Matuk Nath Chaudhary, who was put under suspension for his love affair with his student, found a sympathiser in Rashtriya Janata Dal president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Though many did not appreciate the love affair, Lalu objected to the professor's suspension.

"His (Matuk Nath Chaudhary) suspension is wrong,'' Lalu told reporters.

Lalu said his suspension would have an effect on the lives of the two women (professor's wife Abha Thakur and his paramour Julie).

When asked if he approved of the activities of the professor who had openly admitted to his relationship with Julie without divorcing his wife, Lalu said, ''Many people do such things.''

The professor, whose face was blackened at Sultanganj police station on July 7, was suspended by Patna University Vice-Chancellor S Ehtashamuddin on Saturday.

A day after the incident when the professor's wife Abha beat up Julie in front of the police and the media, the university had issued a show cause notice to the professor to explain his involvement in an "immoral act".
