New Delhi: A Sri Lankan air force spy plane crashed during a mission against LTTE in the northeast of the island on Friday.
Helicopters were sent to recover the aircraft after control room lost contact with the spy plane when it was flying over the northern edge of Trincomalee district, very close to Tamil Tiger territory.
The Lankan military has lost four Israeli-built Drones or spy planes since 1997. The latest loss came as the air force stepped up air attacks against suspected Tamil Tiger positions in the northeast of the island.
