KOZHIKODE: What started off as a remedy to a stomach pain later became a way of living for A Raghunandan.Interestingly, the remedy to his stomach pain was nothing but to avoid cooked food and he decided to continue so for the rest of his life. Raghunandan, who retired as a divisional engineer from the BSNL, Kozhikode, has been living on fruit juice for the past 18 years. Raghunandan says his life is as normal as anybody else’s. He used to have meat and cooked food almost daily before he started to study about nature cure. “It was a gradual process of evolution for me. I had decided not to use any medication for any of my illnesses. Though many of my friends compelled me to take medicines for pain, I refused. I started a trial-and-error method in food habits and my pain got cured,” said Raghunandan. The time he started his experiments with food, his weight reduced from 63 kilos to 35 kilos. “When I cured myself for the first time, I was determined to go ahead with it as a lifestyle,” he added.Raghunandan now lives on four glasses of juice that he drinks twice a day. He usually avoids solid food items. “There is no need of excessive food for humans to survive. Mostly, people eat out of habit than necessity. If you can control your urges to have food, it will keep you in a healthy condition,” said Raghunandan. He has not had a single medicine in the past two decades and still is in perfect shape. He recollects an incident where he had to be admitted to a hospital after he met with an accident at Thiruvananthapuram. “The doctors insisted me to have medicines as the injury was to my head. I refused to take medicines and came back home, took rest and continued with my food habits. I know there is an inbuilt power in us that heals and creates energy,” said Raghunandan. After almost two decades into bringing a radical change in his lifestyle, the 59-year-old Raghunadan is ready to talk about his experience as a nature lover. “I am ready to share my knowledge in this area to anybody who is interested in living close to nature like me,” says Raghunandan.
