Maharashtra aid to border regions

BELGAUM: The Maharashtra government has announced huge financial support to the Marathi organisations located in the border regions of Karnataka to encourage Marathi.Marathi organisations in Belgaum, Khanapur, Nippani and other Marathi speaking areas would hereafter get financial support from the Maharashtra government help to organise Marathi Sahitya Sammelanas (Marathi literary conferences) for Marathi dramas and to start Marathi libraries. The government would also give some amount to Marathi schools for repair works as well as to erect statues of Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj and Sambhaji Maharaj.Marathi Sahitya Sammelanas are a common feature in Belgaum district, and the Sahitya Sammelanas are organised here annually.
