Malaysian Indian leader admitted that the govt had failed to resolve the issue.

New Delhi: A Malaysian Indian minister on Thursday admitted that his community's loyalty to the government had been shaken.

Samy Vellu of the Malaysian Indian Congress also admitted that the government had failed to resolve the concerns of ethnic Indians.

His comments came in the wake of continued protests over the detention of 5 leaders of the Hindu Rights Action Force.

They are being held under the internal security act after organising mass demonstrations against the government.

Sixteen ethnic Indians shaved their heads as a mark of their protest and later marched to a Hindu temple carrying posters of Mahatma Gandhi.

'They had to a certain extent affected the loyalty of Malaysian Indians towards the Malaysian government, S Samy Vellu, who is works minister in the government, said Wednesday.

He said based on feedbacks, there were Indians who had begun questioning why the issues raised by the community had not been resolved by the government.
